Winnetka Hockey Club Code of Conduct 2008-2009 Players, Coaches and Parents: Please read this Code of Conduct carefully. At the end of the document, you will be asked to agree to abide by the code. Even though you may have filled this out for the 2007-2008 season, you will need to do it again.
THE PLAYER
1. The player will respect his/her coach and his/her teammates at all times. 2. The player will respect the game officials and accept their decisions without question. 3. The player will consider the goals of the team above any individual goals. 4. The player will not use any profanity at practices or games. 5. The player will promote teamwork and will not criticize or make negative comments about other players. 6. The player will be prompt for all practices and games. 7. The player will be aware that by his/her conduct she represents himself/herself, his/her community and the Winnetka Hockey Club. 8. The player will always respect the rights and properties of others.
THE COACH
1. The coach will conduct himself/herself in a professional manner at all times when representing the Winnetka Hockey Club. 2. The coach will be responsible for the conduct of his/her players, on and off the ice, while they represent the Winnetka Hockey Club. 3. The coach will maintain strict discipline in the locker room before and after practices. 4. The coach will be well acquainted with the physical, social and psychological make-up of his players. 5. The coach will give credit to the players when they win as well as when they lose, criticizing them only in their presence. 6. The coach will promote teamwork and discourage criticism or dissension among the players 7. The coach will maintain discipline and treat disciplinary problems in accordance with the infraction and the individual involved. 8. The coach will not physically or verbally abuse any of his players. 9. The coach will be responsible for submitting accurate rosters and score sheets.
THE PARENTS 1. Parents will conduct themselves in a manner which exemplifies good sportsmanship and fair play. 2. Parents will be supportive of all team players and coaches both on and off the ice. 3. Parents will refrain from negative or derogatory comments about players, coaches and officials. 4. Parents will be responsible to see that their child attends practices and games on time. 5. Parents will contact a representative of the Board or the All Star Committee if a problem exists on their team. 6. Parents will be aware that their conduct at games is a reflection on the Winnetka Hockey Club.
