Email Rob Levoy, House League Director
The House League is the foundation of the Winnetka Hockey Club. The goals of our House League are to:
1. Teach the fundamental skills of the game;
2. Teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play; and
3. Have fun playing the game!
Our House League program is designed to give children of all levels the opportunity to play in an equal play environment. Our teams generally skate twice weekly once the Watts Ice Center opens, with one game and one practice weekly. Games and practices are held during the same time frames each week, so that children can participate in other activities. All House League activities take place at the Winnetka Ice Arena, North Shore Ice Arena (NSIA), and Watts Ice Center in Glencoe.
The season will start with evaluations on September 18th for Bantams and September 25th for Squirts and Pee Wees. There is also a optional preseason clinic starting September 11th. Following evaluations, each participant will be placed on a team and will practice for a few weeks with games starting in late October. New this year will be professional skill development for the first three weeks of the season. The season will conclude prior to spring break with our playoffs.

Full-ice games on the weekends both at Winnetka and opposing rinks. Practices Wednesday at Winnetka or Watts.
Minor Mites and Mites: Our highest priority is focusing on core skills in a fun environment. Practices will focus on lots of skating; this is the best time to develop good technique and form. We adjust the games to the age of the participants. All children play equally and against children of similar ability.
Squirts and Pee Wees continue to learn the fundamentals, stressing sportsmanship. Squirts and Pee Wees play the traditional hockey rules. There is no checking at either level. The Squirts and Pee Wees will play an interlocking schedule with the Wilmette and Falcons House teams during similar time slots to provide a more diverse schedule.
Bantams play check hockey in the North Shore Hockey League. The NSHL will tier its league according to the skills of the teams.
House League Skill Development
One of our primary goals for the upcoming season is to increase the amount of professional instruction for our House League skaters. We have assembled a top-flight skills instruction team led by our Hockey Director, Chris Wickersham and Director of Development Charlie Widmar.

Those would like to be considered for financial assistance are asked to contact our treasurer, David Kulakofky:
The Winnetka Hockey Club offers an optional preseason clinic for House League skaters at Winnetka. These clinics focus on skill development, such as skating, puck-handling and shooting. Each group will meet for 3 one- hour sessions and will be instructed by our professional staff. The fee is $120.
House League Evaluations: Bantams September 11/Squirts & Pee Wees September 24
In order to properly balance teams, all children in the House League attend an evaluation session. Please make every effort to attend. Please refer to the WHC website for dates and times of the clinic and evaluations.
House Selects Hockey
The WHC will continue to offer House Select teams at the Squirt and Pee Wee levels. This is only open to those in our House League program. These programs will begin around December 1st. Information will be posted in early November.
