The WHC will again offer two programs designed to give our Minor Mite and Mite-aged House League players the opportunity for additional ice time, instruction, and “play time”. Both of these programs will begin after Thanksgiving and conclude in early March.
Minor Mite Development Program (MMDP) is for children born in 2015 and 2016. The program will have weekly skills sessions on Tuesdays at Watts Ice Center 5:30pm conducted by our professional staff. These sessions will follow the American Development Model (ADM) concept of station-based training with a focus on maximizing each skater's repetitions and core skill development. These Tuesday sessions will run the length of the Watts season from early December-end of February.
In addition to these weekly skills sessions, we expect to offer six “3 on 3” sessions every other week to be held at Winnetka on Fridays 5:25pm These 3 on 3 sessions will feature lots of skating, puck touches, and FUN!
We will also play some of our neighboring programs (within 20 minutes) in 4-5 full ice games. We are shooting to play the majority of these on Fridays also but a Saturday game (no House League conflicts) is possible. This will help acclimate children to full-ice hockey as they progress.
Mite House Plus is for children born in 2013 & 2014. Mite House Plus will be similar to MMDP except Skills Sessions will be Tuesdays at 5:30 or 6:45p @ Watts. House Plus program will also feature six 3 on 3 sessions on Fridays and 4-5 full ice games.
We expect both programs to offer approximately 20 on-ice sessions.
We do not expect that any of these sessions will conflict with regularly scheduled House League activities.
If your child is eager for additional ice time and more hockey, this is a great option.
The season fee is $600 and includes a jersey All children must be registered before the first on ice session.
